The celebrations are just getting started

Are you graduation ready? Part 4

Your graduation is the official celebration, but it doesn’t have to end there! This is part 4, the final part of the “are you graduation ready?” series. Today I will be sharing some ideas for your post graduation celebrations. Picture this, you walked across the stage, said your goodbyes and threw your cap up into the air - the adrenaline is high and you need somewhere to use up all that energy. The best thing is to plan your celebrations ahead of time to guarantee an amazing evening of memories. Here are some ideas for you to try.

Childlike activities

Now, hear me out. You are officially, officially an adult entering the working world. This day really is your last chance to wild out (in the right way of course). Maybe go to a trampoline park, have a primary school themed party, make goody bags. Use this celebration as a moment to not just have heaps of silly fun, but to also honour your younger self that brought you to where you are today - I am sure they will be proud.

Themed Dress Up Party

Continuing on from the previous shenanigans, this idea would be so fun to do if you are celebrating with fellow graduates. You could all come up with a theme based on your time studying. Maybe you could each dress up as a member of staff, an iconic moment during your studies - or anything else you’d like. Why not recreate some special or funny photos from your time studying. The food and drinks can also match up with the theme.

Scrapbook making night

If you are the sentimental type (like myself) this one’s for you. Scrapbook making is a great way to look back on memories while making more memories. Ask friends to bring all their memorabilia from their time studying and get matching scrapbooks so it ends up being like a DIY yearbook. The content can include anything from photos to lanyards, receipts and exam papers. I love this type of thing that feels like not just an activity, but also a time capsule.

Documentary screening

If you like the previous idea but you are more digital than DIY, this one is for you. Create a documentary style video which captures all your memories from your uni days, include interviews with yourself, peers and maybe even teachers. This will be a compilation video to tie a pretty bow on the end of your study days. Include all the ups and downs to add depth and a great soundtrack to accompany the video. You will have to prepare this ahead of time however to make sure it is ready for the big day. This will be so cute to watch in the evening with friends and family that saw you throughout your journey - grab some blankets, popcorn and tissues because this can be a bit emotional.

Restaurant

This is a classic idea because it just works. Who doesn’t like to dress up and have a nice meal in the city. This can be as big or as intimate as you’d like but food is a great way to celebrate. You can try something new or go to your favourite place with your loved ones and toast to your current and future success. If there is a place you would eat at a lot with friends while studying, no matter how lowkey it might be, it might be fun to go there all dressed up and share your last meal there as students.

There are so many ways to celebrate your graduation day, these are just some that come to mind. However you choose to celebrate, make sure it is something you like and will remember forever. You are not just celebrating the end of deadline season, you are celebrating yourself and all you overcame physically, mentally and emotionally. Whoever you are, I am proud of you and wish you all the success! Make sure to subscribe to this blog via email for updates on latest articles.
