Who I am online P3

A glimpse at who I will be

This is it, the last part… well, at least for now. First, we looked at what my online reputation is, then we analysed why it matters and why you should do the same. Now, it’s time to rewrite the script. The beautiful thing about life is that you are the main character as well as the director. You get to choose how things go. One of my favourite quotes is, "The best way to predict the future is to plan it." So here are some of my predictions for my future:

1. I will graduate with a first class. I am no longer obsessed with grades as I was in first year; however, the grade will simply be evidence of the work I put into my degree. This will let others who come after me know that it is possible.

2. My final year project, LMBC (Let Me Be Creative), will grow even bigger than I can imagine and help so many people realise their creative potential. It is bigger than me. It is a resource and service for others to benefit from. Young people will believe that they are capable of pursuing a creative career, and more mature individuals will be reminded that it is never too late to try.

3. I will work with industry leaders in fashion media and have a job that I look forward to. I will have a job that I enjoy but that also challenges me intellectually. A place that encourages me to grow and evolve into new versions of myself, while remaining true to my values. This includes colleagues that I would want to go to a Christmas party with.

4. I will be known as an expert in the art of interviewing. Everyone I interview will be treated with equal levels of respect, care, and attention. I will not just ask the obvious but uncover things that help not just my audience, but also the interviewee.

5. This blog will be an award winning reference point for all things fashion, media, and lifestyle. I will not just have an audience that watches me grow, but one that grows with me. I will use my voice and platform to offer tangible advice and candid experiences that others can use as an example in their own lives.

Reflection

After writing this, I am now debating whether or not I should even publish this article. Why is it easier to be self deprecating rather than self assured? It’s easier to speak life into others and celebrate their potential rather than our own. This is my first step towards changing that narrative and believing in myself before anyone else does. I believe that all these things I listed will come true, as well as the ones I am too shy to admit I really want. I encourage you to do the same. Even if you don’t publish or post your list, write it down, and your future self will thank you for it when you realise that you are living your dreams.

Disclaimer: This is called “Who I am online” for a reason. Online or social accomplishments don’t define oneself as a person. We are all multifaceted with depth, thoughts and experiences that we won’t always share. This exercise is strictly for professional use and doesn't fully encompass who I am. This will be a three part series so make sure to subscribe via email below for updates on latest posts!
