A sip of the best
Tea No Sugar’s top reads so far
It is day 25/100 from the series I started called 100 days, 100 thoughts. So it’s about time we have a pause and reflection a quarter way through this series to find out what articles you all have been loving.
One thing about me is I love to host, so why not a tea party with all of my favourite content creators? Here are some creators I’m loving right now along with the tea I would serve them. Now this is not a complete list of content creators I love and learn from, it’s just those I’ve been keeping up with the most lately. Also this may seem like the most random collection of people ever - I would love to see how the conversations would play out in real life. Let’s get into it before the tea gets cold.
Part of the fashion student experience is interning. Many have horror stories, I was lucky enough to experience a tale of excitement, encouragement and insight. I interned with the leading luxury brand building agency Karla Otto where I spent 2 months working closely with the fabulous insights team. This was from the end of January to the beginning of April. A year later, it’s time for a reflection of my experience.
The 97th Oscars has come and gone, but there are some outfits I will never stop thinking about. From bedazzled gowns to reimagined suits, there was so much to love. As fashion student who takes these events seriously, it was so hard to narrow the list down to 10. Unlike the Met Gala, there is no specific theme besides glitz and glam so it really isn’t hard to get it right. Here are my top ten looks from this years Oscars red carpet.
Do great work, but act like it's mediocre. Invest all your time, but keep that information private. Win an academy award and thank everyone but yourself. Crazy right?
That seems to be the paradox creatives, and really humans are faced with. You are expected to operate at a level of greatness yet act like you didn’t. Be proud, no be humble, no be proud, no be…it’s exhausting.
I’m sure by now you have seen Timothee Chalamet’s SAG award acceptance speech, if not, go check it out for some context because today’s thoughts were inspired directly by that. Before I was a fashion student, I was an English Lit A-Level student so I have decoded a piece of text or two in my time, this one will be no different.
As a journalism student, I have done a fair share of interviews in my time. If you think it’s just creating a list of questions…don’t I have news for you! At its root, interviewing is simply facilitating a conversation. You need to stay in control while allowing thoughts to flow. You are both a participant and an observer. This list are some things to remember when taking on the task of interviewing.
From this list, the “More Tea” category is in the lead. Regardless of being a fashion journalism student, I often find myself writing about other topics besides fashion. I love a fashion week review as much as the next guy, but you don’t have to stick to the same cup of tea forever. That is why I made the “More Tea” section to exercise my knowledge on other topics and it has been so fun - I am so glad you all have been enjoying it too! Make sure to subscribe because there is so much more tea coming your way.
